With
advertisements in magazines, television ads and billboards constantly telling
women how they need to transform in order to be beautiful...
It is no
wonder why only 4% of women globally feel comfortable describing themselves as beautiful…
And it is so
true with Stick-thin models, flawless complexions and gorgeous hair living on
the pages of all the go to womens magazines. These depictions define perfection,
they define beauty and most importantly they define a fictitious ideal that
attaining such a look is possible. Women are constantly comparing themselves to these photo shopped celebrities.
But this is an unrealistic standards, making it hard for women to look in the
mirror and see beautiful. Instead all they see are their flaws…
But some
companies like Aerie and Dove have been
trying to broaden the standard of beauty around the globe. Letting women know
that their beauty should be a form of confidence and not anxiety.
This message
is to show that you don’t have to look a certain way in order to be beautiful.
In fact beauty might not be about looks at all. The beautiful
thing is that everyone IS beautiful in their own way. Beauty has a different
meaning to everyone. In an industry where retouched photos are the norm, it is
important to know what makes you beautiful. The happiest girls are the prettiest
girls and life is too short to be anything but happy.
Remember you are all BEAUTIFUL!
